NewsHelicopter visit - Monday 24th JulyUnfortunately due to the situation in the Lebanon the Royal Navy have had to withdraw their Merlin helicopter from its visit to us. This means we have had to cancel the event. We hope to put the event on again next year as part of the Scouting Centenary celebrations in 2007. (20/07/2006) Group Fayre successThis years Group Fayre was another success. Despite lower visitor numbers than previous years we still managed to take in excess of £1000. A big thank you top all those who helped out and to all those who came. We hope to see you again next year. (09/07/2006) Hannah hands overHannah our Scout leader has left her leading role at the 5th but she will still be about! Hannah has understandably decided that following the birth of her son last year and after returning to work she cannot continue being Scout Leader. Fortunately we have an able Assistant Scout Leader, Russell who has agreed to be her replacement. Our thanks to Hannah who will still be seen helping out at various times and events as the 5th is 'in her blood'. Not to mention that she is bringing up our youngest person on the Beaver waiting list!! (23/02/2006) Top CubKieran W. has achieved the Chief Scout Silver Award, the top award in Cubs. (04/12/2005) Working party successesA team of about 15 people carried out various repair works to the HQ on Saturday. The new windows have had protective grills put on them and the lean-to shed was given a much needed coat of preservative. The front fence had six posts replaced and a further seven will be needed to finish it off. The "lost" shed was found by the removal of a massive briar patch that had built up over the years. We had not been able to get to this second shed for over five years and many members have never seen it. Thanks to all those who attended and see you next time... (09/10/2005) Landing stage and slipway closedUnfortunately due to the ravages of the river over the past few years the landing stages and the slipway have had to be closed until further notice.
