About Us

The 5th Worcester Scout Group are based in Barbourne on the north side of the City of Worcester. We are the only Sea Scout Group based in Worcester, and offer water based activities as well as the normal Scout activities.

From 1943 within the St Georges ‘Z’ Group, which numbered 60 boys, there was a sea-scout section. However in the autumn of 1946 this became a Group in its own right changing from the red and white scarf to the blue scarf which we wear today. The Group was known then as ‘X’ Worcester.

We have currently have a Scout Troop, a Cub Pack and a Beaver Colony supplying scouting to approximately 60 six to fourteen year old boys and girls.

We have a great site, on the banks of the river Severn with our own large headquarters with a spacious, terraced camping area, slipway direct to the river and launching decks for our canoes and boats, There is a good parking area within the site.

The 5th Worcester Scout Group also has a drum band which practises weekly and appears at the annual St. George's Day parades as well as other functions by arrangement.
